County Executive Bellone Announces Passage of New State Legislation Authorizing Suffolk County to Regulate Taxicabs, Limousines and Livery Vehicles

Today, County Executive Bellone announced the passage of new state legislation which authorizes Suffolk County to regulate taxicabs, limousines and livery vehicles.  The State sponsors of this legislation were Senator Kenneth La Valle and Assemblyman Fred Thiele.

Tomarken, MD, MPH, MBA, MSW, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, said today that the beach closure issued for Huntington Beach Community Association in Centerport, NY has been lifted, as results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.

Lake Ronkonkoma Beach Closed

James L. Tomarken, MD, MSW, MPH, MBA, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, said today that Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in Islip, NY is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria.
